As the youngest child in a large family living on rented land, I always felt a deep connection to raising animals. I enjoyed helping my older sibling with their goats, but my ultimate dream was to have my own animals one day. Even though having enough land for a full agricultural venture seemed unlikely, my passion never faded. In ninth grade, I was introduced to regenerative agriculture and holistic grazing management, which opened my eyes to new possibilities. When my dad purchased 14 acres in 2019, I finally had the opportunity to get some sheep and pursue my dreams. Inspired by Greg Judy's book, Come Back Farms which showcased his success on leased land through diligent land care, I began to follow his model. With my brother's assistance, I started searching for lease land, and now, five years later, I’m thrilled to be grazing about 50 sheep and some cows across five different properties—and there's still plenty of potential for growth!
